Framed Original 1930 Gouache Painting by Henri Hague "1900"

Original old Art Deco style gouache on paper painting by the German-born artist Henri Hague (1899-1944) titled "1900." Features a lively scene of elegant characters in a Belle Epoque Brasserie with ball lights.

Framed in italian wood dark green colors.

Signature: the gouache is signed in pencil on the original mat which has been attached to the back of the new frame. 


About the Artist: Born in Berlin in 1899, Heinz / Heinrich Greiffenhagen, known as Henri Hague, is a painter. He went to France in the 1930s and created works representing Parisian life and the carefreeness of the Roaring Twenties. Frequenting artists linked to the School of Paris, he distinguished himself in the artistic Montparnasse of the 1930s. In 1937, he went to London and was noticed by Albert Berthel, who ran the Belgrave Gallery. He died in 1944. A tribute exhibition entitled "A Glimpse in Time, drawings and paintings by Henri Hague" was presented at the Center for Art and Photography at Celebration Company in Houston in March 2019.
